Hurricanes Trying To Lower Lease

via the News & Observer,

Negotiations are expected to go into next year as the Carolina Hurricanes try to hash out a deal with their landlord at the RBC Center.

The 2006 Stanley Cup winners have asked for more than two years for a break in rent, from the $3 million they currently pay to $2 million.

The Centennial Authority, the quasi-governmental board, has yet to respond to the Hurricanes’ request but has asked the team to add five years to their lease.

The Hurricanes are currently committed through 2019.

Both sides hope to meet on middle ground soon.
