via Curtis Zupke of Ducks Blog,
Ryan Getzlaf’s facial injury sounded more severe than first thought given coach Randy Carlyle’s description of the Ducks captain.
Getzlaf took a puck to his forehead on Tuesday night against Phoenix and left the game. He was not at Honda Center as he was told to stay home and keep the swelling down after he needed 10 stitches to close the cut.
“There’s quite a gash there,” Carlyle said. “He had bleeding into his nasal cavity … and he felt nauseous at times because of the blood draining into his stomach.”
Carlyle said it was too early to determine when Getzlaf would be available “until we see a little bit more of him and where he’s at at the rink.”

Ouch. I hope the Hairclub ointment doesn’t cause an infection on that wound.

With his receding hairline, that’s a lot of forehead to hit.
