Howard Hopes To Play On Wednesday

from Chris McCosky of the Detroit News,

The Red Wings got good news on goalie Jimmy Howard Sunday.

The MRI on his injured left shoulder came back clean.

“I just was hoping it wasn’t anything serious and it wasn’t,” Howard said. “The MRI came back and it was fine — just a sprain. I dodged a bullet.”

While coach Mike Babcock said Howard’s status would be evaluated daily, Howard said he hopes he can return as soon as Wednesday against St. Louis.

The more I think about the injury and how it happened, the harder it is for me to believe that the league doens’t just plain have it in for Detroit.  There are 29 other teams that, if their goalie was in that position, would have had the goal waved off AND a penalty assessed.

But it’s Detroit, so in the league’s eyes,” f*ck them”... almost makes me wish there were a rival league Illitch could take his team and show to, and leave a huge gaping hole in the NHL.
