from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
The design on Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard’s new mask pays tribute to Brad McCrimmon, Ruslan Salei and Stefan Liv. It features their portraits on the back, with the words “Forever in Our Hearts!’‘

“Let’s roll” is also far, far older than just 10 years. That’s where they got it - from movies and stories.

He’s had that “Let’s Roll!” on his mask for a long time.
He’s clearly a sentimental guy and not afraid to show it. Good for him honoring those people.

Baroque is simply pointing out that while “Let’s Roll!” is intrinsically tied to 9/11. It is not solely owned or defined by that event since it had a place in vernacular prior to 9/11. This was in response to UMFan’s assertion that Howard could get flack for having it on his backplate in the very first post.
That’s what.

Regardless of anything else, Howard’s revised goalie mask is a great move to remember three guys with whom he was a teammate.

Very cool tribute. Though I can see that he might get some flack for the “lets roll” thing. Not that I mind but some people see that as the 9/11 battlecry from flight 93.
