It’s commonly accepted most NHLers spent their off-seasons golfing, but Brendan Witt and Tim Thomas are not most NHLers. Their hobbies are a little more adventurous, and on two particular occasions, almost deadly.... Both Witt and Thomas said what they love most about their respective hobby is being at one with nature. They gathered, mostly on Wednesday mornings this past summer because, as Paul Kariya explained, it was the one day of the week when he and his California-based National Hockey League peers generally didn't lift weights in the off season. Instead, they came together just off the beach at San Clemente, near Kariya's off-season home. It'd be him and Rob Blake and Glen Murray and Sean O'Donnell and all the others too, paddling out past the break, taking in the sights, timing their rides just so and sometimes, even doubling and tripling up on a wave if they could manage it.continued...nice headline too...
