[Update - 5:10pm central US time] Quote from data center network operations staff where our equipment is housed: “Our peer Telia in San Jose is indeed having issues on the Telia side of the link. This is causing traffic overflow on our other links, and causing traffic to be rerouted to the LA area, resulting in slow load times and disconnects. Our network engineers are working with Telia to fix it, although we do not have an ETA at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.”update Thursday 12:55am, Everything seems back to normal...
Seems Telia’s crack fiber network engineers finally figure out what was wrong with their fiber connections in the SF bay area, which caused our Fremont, CA data center location to have to route traffic around the issues causing high traffic and high latency across the board until Telia fixed their issues. Only people using ISPs that peer (share network connections) with Telia were affected, people with ISPs with peering or IP transit from companies that did not use Telia’s network were completely unaffected.
