Hossa Played With Bad Knee In SCF

via Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago,

Chicago Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa said Saturday that he played the Stanley Cup finals with a sprained MCL in his right knee, suffered in Game 1 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Hossa dealt with the lingering effects of shoulder surgery all season and also had a banged-up back in the finals.

Prediction: when he underperforms next year it’s going to be because of swimmer’s ear.

Maybe you missed it, Garth, but he didn’t underperform in the Finals. He was often the best player on the ice for the Hawks. He made life miserable for the Flyers through the neutral zone and while he wasn’t scoring, he was a nonstop irritant against them.

I was thrilled to watch Toews hand Hoss the Cup and Toews’ immediate reaction following the handoff. All that silly-ass curse stuff is dead, Garth. Chicago is up for grabs.

1 goal and 3 assists in 6 games for a man who makes over $5 million?

Have to admit though, that’s more than he did for Detroit. Hossa won his Cup finally…he can stop with the injury excuses.

I’m sorry, but if he underperformed last year, scoring 6 goals and 15 points (with zero goals in the finals) then he didn’t exactly set the world on fire with 3 goals and 15 points (with one goal in the finals) this year.

Hossa was definitely better in the finals this year than he was last year, but Chicago didn’t pay him $7.9M -the highest on the team- this year to be an irritant.  They paid him to produce points.

They didn’t sign him to a 12-year deal to be an irritant.

All that silly-ass curse stuff is dead, Garth. Chicago is up for grabs.

I’m not sure what either of these things mean.  I didn’t say anything about a curse and have no clue what “up for grabs” means in this context.

I will say this though: I hope Chicago enjoys Hossa.  In the first year of a 12-year contract he’s had shoulder surgery, sprained an MCL -neccesitating TWO knee braces- and “banged up” his back.  Or, he had three excuses.

Eleven more years of that coming up.

Um.  You actually didn’t.

Hossa is a true warrior.  Super strong on the puck in the corners.  Won many battles.  Really nice seeing him lift the cup…

Hmm, you’re right.

I didn’t think I was drunk…

*shrugs*

Still doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t say finals.

It means Toews handed the Stanley Cup to Hossa. And Chicago has been partying ever since. We’re having a blast here while you’re among those still trying to roast Hoss for something that is now irrelevant.

Anyone who watched the postseason knows exactly how much Hossa contributed to the Hawks Cup run. He was an ace acquisition.
