Holland just on Detroit radio. Wings and Zetterberg camp were both shooting for a long term deal. They talked last week and finalized it today. Everyone happy and the reported numbers are correct, $2.65 million per year for 4 years.
Henrik may play center but decision is up to Babcock. Played center in Swedish League las year and Holland thinks he is a better center than winger.
Holland said Rem Murray coming to camp on a tryout, has had injuries but wants to see if he can still perform.
Plans on talking with Datsyuk's agent again this week. Said Dynamo has matched and right now will play for them. Holland said there is a bit of hope that he might play for the Wings, but operating as if he isn't coming. Thinks the Wings have made some progress in talks with Datsyuk, but Pavel has still made his decision to play in Russia as of now. Holland said the Wings will not negotiate a buyout with the Russian Club, up to the NHL to negotiate in the IIHF agreement. If there is a way to have Datsyuk get out of his contract, the Wings will explore those. Says Datsyuk must be with the Wings by October 5th if he plays a game in the Russian League, or else he has to clear waivers.
If he doesn't play, Wings have until December 1st to sign him. Holland won't talk about dollar figures, but says he made some progress over the weekend but Datsyuk had to make a decision this weekend too. Feels the offer he made on Sunday was very fair and is comfortable with it. Talked with Datsyuk on Thursday and Sunday, Thinks his decision is partly about the money but is very happy in Detroit, his agent even stated that today. Holland not really sure what the offer was in Russia, but believes his offer was very fair.
WIngs have 9 forwards on one way contracts, but want 13 on the team. Will audition some minor league players, two may make the team. He will work the phones to find the others over the next week. Has had conversations with a few GMs and will watch the waiver wire. Not looking for a top six forward.
