from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,
- The Buffalo Sabres will hold on to winger Chris Stewart until GM Tim Murray is able to get what he wants. The Bruins, Senators, Flames and Kings have shown interest in Stewart, but the asking price is a high-end prospect and a top pick. Murray is ready to deal Stewart -- and as stated in the past he probably wouldn't mind the move either -- but not until the Sabres are able to get the right pieces for the future. That could change before the deadline, but Buffalo is holding the line.
- The Caps might be willing to listen on winger Troy Brower, but he has a modified no-trade clause and a deal that runs through 2015-16 with a cap hit of $3.6 million. If Washington was going to make that deal they would want to get back a pretty good return.
more including this on the New Jersey Devils..
That was quite the setup Devils' president/general manager Lou Lamoriello confirmed Saturday when he announced he was headed behind the bench on an interim basis while former New Jersey assistants Adam Oates and Scott Stevens have been brought back into co-coaching roles.
Both are being considered for the top job.
At the very least, it will be entertaining to watch.
"I have no idea what this is all about," said a league executive Saturday.
