Hockey Does Not Need This

This is not what the NHL needed as it tries to make amends with fans after losing all of last season to a lockout. This is not what hockey needs on the eve of the Torino Winter Olympics, where many NHL stars will represent their native countries. This is a nightmare, and Bettman can only hope that the list of hockey players involved is indeed short. The sports business flourishes because fans and companies that invest in collegiate and professional sports believe in the integrity of the games. That means everything is fair and square. There is a level playing field. Sports are not pro wrestling, where the outcome is scripted.more
