from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
- Gary Bettman went into the Hockey Hall of Fame Monday night, on the same day that his sidekick, Bill Daly, announced there might be a World Cup of hockey in 2020, if there isn’t labour troubles at the time. Also announced that day, the NHL has settled its concussion lawsuit with former players. How Bettman is all that?
- To be clear, former Peterborough GM Jeff Twohey was not pushed out in Arizona. He chose to leave. Most sane hockey people would make the same decision.
- Milan Lucic, then and now. In the third period of Game 7 vs the Maple Leafs in Boston in 2012, Lucic had two even strength assists and was an absolute force in the Bruins famous comeback win. This season, in 18 games with the Edmonton Oilers, he also has two even strength assists.
- Colorado’s Rantanen leads the NHL in even strength assists with 19. No one else, and that includes Connor McDavid, had more than 12 heading into Saturday night.
- I was about to declare this a week without disaster for the Ottawa Senators until the story broke about bots and fake accounts supporting the Sens, owner Eugene Melnyk and personally taking on critics. So for now, carry on.
