from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
- What do the Vancouver Canucks do now with Jacob Markstrom? He may have been their MVP this season and he’s a free agent and they have the suddenly brilliant Thatcher Demko and they have to expose a goalie in the expansion draft. So is Markstrom available to everyone in the NHL and if he is, how quickly will Joe Sakic be on the line in free agency to take a run at Markstrom for the Avalanche?
- Never seen worse playoff goaltending than in the Dallas-Colorado second round playoff series. And I know, Michael Hutchinson, nice man, good person, fine teammate, terrific story. Just don’t want him playing a Stanley Cup game that matters.
- Would MacKinnon be Team Canada’s No. 1 centre on an Olympic team, or would Connor McDavid or Sidney Crosby be No 1? And it basically means somebody is moving to the wing.
- You look at Shea Theodore now as a future Norris Trophy candidate and Alex Tuch as a game-changing winger. Both were officially acquired by trade by George McPhee and Kelly McCrimmon on the day Vegas could announce its expansion roster three years ago. Tuch was dealt to Vegas so the Knights wouldn’t pick Matthew Dumba from Minnesota’s roster. Theodore was sent so they wouldn’t pick Josh Manson or Sami Vatanen. Yeah, the system worked in their favour, but boy did they make it work.
