from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
- I wouldn’t replace Lamoriello if I didn’t have to. If he’s healthy enough, strong enough, willing to put in the work to do the GM job, and of complete sound mind, why make a move? Lamoriello has a lifetime of experience and success. Can anyone say with certainty that Dubas or even Hunter would have similar success. There’s no way of predicting that.
- It’s killing the analytics crowd that Arizona is last in the NHL and there are no more stories to be written about boy genius GM, John Chayka. Funny, you see stories on analytics when they pertain to success. But you don’t see many that pertain to failure.
- Oh, there have been other great combinations down the middle over the years. Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg in Colorado. Mario Lemieux and Ron Francis in Pittsburgh. Steve Yzerman and Sergei Fedorov in Detroit. Stan Mikita and Phil Esposito in Chicago. Jean Beliveau and Henri Richard in Montreal.
But you have to wonder now: Where do Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the amazing Pittsburgh combination, rank all-time?...
more Lamoriello talk, keep reading for Crosby/Malkin and other topics too...
