Kukla's Korner Hockey

Hockey Notes

from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal,

- I still feel Steve Yzerman should take Josh Harding as the third goalie for Canada. Forget his multiple sclerosis battle; he’s having a heckuva season and is now the Wild’s No. 1 goaltender, not Niklas Backstrom.

- If the New York Rangers are doing some exploratory shopping of blueliner Dan Girardi before he gets to UFA in July, the Oilers should be all over it. He’s a solid Top 4 defensive defenceman.

- Los Angeles Kings goalie Martin Jones is getting the ‘wow’ treatment around the league. He doesn’t appear to be a here-today-gone-tomorrow goalie. He’s got lots of game. “He reminds me of Carey Price,” Oilers forward Ryan Smyth said.
