from Eric Stephens of the Ducks Blog,
Hiller’s night against Chicago had another breakthrough moment as he’s struggled on the back end of the few times he’s been asked to start on back-to-back nights. He’s also avoiding the one bad goal he seemed to give up each game.
The 27-year-old goalie said it’s still a learning process for him as far as having the right preparation and frame of mind to perform in those situations. Carlyle said being a top-flight netminder and delivering games like the one in Chicago is “the challenge that’s out there for all NHL goalies.”
“He’s taken that workmanlike attitude,” Carlyle said. “He’s not taking anything for granted. He’s just going out and playing. When you play that number of games, you get in a groove.
“He’s been pretty solid for our hockey club. But [Sunday] was an exclamation point.”
The Ducks have wondered for months whether they can lean on either Hiller or Jean-Sebastien Giguere. Now they know who it is.
more and expect the Giguere to .... (name a team) rumors to start, again).
