Highlights Of The CBA

from Emily Kaplan and Greg Wyshynski of ESPN,

The NHLPA and the NHL's board of governors have approved a package that will not only allow the league to restart this summer, but also includes a four-year CBA extension. You read that correctly, the two sides have reached an extension without a work stoppage!

We don't want you to have to pore over the entire agree-upon legal document. Instead, we're here to highlight some of the critical takeaways from the deal....

Player trades are less restrictive

Wyshynski: The new CBA made two common-sense changes that will affect player movement after trades. No-trade and no-movement clauses will now travel with a player who is traded.

Please recall in 2016 when Montreal traded P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators just 48 hours before his no-trade clause was to kick in. The Predators then declined to honor that clause -- as was their right under the previous CBA -- and he was on the move again three years later to New Jersey. That can no longer happen, as no-move and no-trade clauses are simply a part of the package when trading for a player.

The other fix might not have seemed so obvious: Teams can no longer include conditional draft picks in trades that are tied to a player re-signing with the new team.

NHL players from participating countries can do what they
want, but no grey areas here for me: the US needs to boycott
the Olympics in China.

All countries are flawed including this one.

But…

*Genocide in Xinjiang (and Tibet)
*CCP security apparatus seizing control of and extinguishing freedom in Hong Kong
*Land grabs and/or military provocations with virtually all of their neighbors
*A comprehensive network of weaponing students and professors to spy and steal data in the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, etc.
*Unleashing (another) pandemic - this time the worst in a hundred years - and lying and misleading and covering up and predatorily trying to take advantage financially, economically and militarily. Selling or “donating” masses of completely defective useless PPE that dozens of countries have had to return. Unleashing bots and openly claiming the virus was caused by the US military.
*Threatening repeatedly to withhold all critical medicine and other essential goods to countries that fail to praise their response to the virus and other gross misdeeds
*Their government can’t even host a military games without heavily cheating

Nothing but love for Chinese people - especially in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Nothing but love for people of Chinese heritage and ethnicity everywhere.

But enough. That regime is utterly vile. No to being pawns in the triumphalist PR pageantry of a CCP Olympics. No to being a party to a stage-managed distraction from their endless horrific human rights abuses.

Ok, I’m done.

Amen, brother.

Going to China to participate in a spectacle that would paint that regime in a positive light would disrespect every person in the world who has died because of COVID-19. This pandemic was deliberately released outside of China to further their desire for economic world domination.

If the NBA wants to pander to the communists for their own economic gain, their fans will have to decide how they feel about that. But the NHL has to be better than that.

+19.  I appreciate the Chinese people and their heritage as well as their places in American History, but the chinese commies are cold-blooded killers.
