Head Hits Will Be Addressed

from Scott Morrison of the CBC,

It appears inevitable now that the NHL general managers, when they next convene, will again be reviewing the issue of hits to the head – intentional and otherwise, clean and otherwise.
Early in the season there was a run of hits, all declared clean – because there were no elbows, no jumping, no late hitting, no charging – that the GMs reviewed and declared that, while injuries are unfortunate, hockey is a physical sport and if a shoulder hits a head by accident, in the act of applying a check, they were prepared to live with it rather than risk losing more hitting from the game.
That vote, by the way, was unanimous.
