Hawks Lose Sharp For 3-4 Weeks

from Adam L. Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times,

After a string of good luck, the Blackhawks have suffered their first significant injury of the season. Patrick Sharp will be out three to four weeks with a left wrist/hand injury.

Sharp, who will not require surgery, suffered the injury in the first period of Sunday’s loss against the Detroit Red Wings. He had played in every game this season and had an All-Star first half with 20 goals and 40 points in 42 games.

Coach Joel Quenneville said Sharp could have suffered the injury when he was slashed on his left wrist by Jiri Hudler when he fired in his 20th goal of the season at 4:19 in the first.

Sharp, though, didn’t leave the game. He later fell on his hands while on the penalty kill. Sharp played only 5:35.

Nooo!!!
It had to be when those terrible goonish redwings roughed up innocent hawks players. Like when Franzen was tired of getting punched in the head by montador. It was all franzen’s fault. Just like when wasn’t it Sharp who speared Lidstrom hard enough to rupture a testicle? It’s all the Wings’ fault.

That Hudler slash on Sharp to which the author is referring looked extremely weak.  I highly doubt he even felt that.  He didn’t even react to it when it happened.

Of course, the NBC announcers kept saying that’s when it happened…despite the fact that, as the article says, he kept playing until he fell onto his hands during a penalty kill.

Jeebus, if Hudler’s so-called “slash” injured his wrist, why then holy crosscheck, I’d hate to see 5’6” Hudler laying out a clean Kronwallian hit on the open ice.

/facepalm

There’s just no fixing the stupid in the CHI press.

So a weak “slash” by Hudler to Sharp’s left thigh hurt his hand/wrist?

Sounds like Pronger Fizziks to me.

Aww, the poor puppy got his hanny whacked with a stick.  I’ve seen harder slashes than that in a pee wee game.  Next thing we hear will be Quennville telling one and all that Detroit is a dirty team like Filthydelphia and Pittsburgh.  Utter nonsense.

We also must consider that a Blackhawks employee is the color stooge for NBC.  Could that color things a bit?  And Mike Emetic is like a drunken parrot, he repeats whatever he hears from others.  What a crew of putzes.
