-The Ottawa-based clamor for Dom Hasek to be the Czech Olympic goalie is nonsense. Your Uncle Dudley could play goal for the stacked Senators. Tom Vokoun is better than the 40-year-old Sens’ stopper. End of story! -Toronto took a double-dip verbal beating from Tampa Bay. First, John Tortorella zapped some of the Leafs media, comparing them to Jerry Springer! Then, Tribune columnist Martin Fennelly dissed the hockey club. “The Leafs,” says Fennelly, “are the most overrated, overhyped, overwrought ‘elite’ franchise in sports.” So, how come, we have no problem with the Mapleos? -Boyd Devereaux on his boss, The Great One, as coach: “He’s much more intense than I thought he’d be,” says the Coyotes forward. “Nobody wants to be chewed out by Wayne Gretzky.
