Kukla's Korner Hockey

from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star,
He didn’t have a job, you see, after the Atlanta Thrashers had walked away from a $2.4 million arbitration award, and as he contemplated the NHL market in August, it seemed as though all the money had been spent.
“Finally, one team called,” recalled MacArthur. “And of course right away four or five others did.”
In the end, it was the Maple Leafs who appealed to MacArthur most with their lowball $1.1 million offer, and after scoring his third and fourth goals in three games Wednesday night in a 4-3 triumph over Pittsburgh, the 25-year-old left winger might have the Thrashers second-guessing themselves.
“I don’t really care what they’re thinking down (in Atlanta),” he said. “I’m happy here.”
This early-season Leaf honeymoon, meanwhile, has been brief but hugely satisfying as the club moved to 3-0-0 with the victory over the Pens. Ron Wilson’s surprising crew now has a chance Friday night in Manhattan to start unbeaten and untied in four starts for the first time since the 1993-94 season when the club began with 10 consecutive victories.
