Gudas delivers yet another elbow to a player’s head

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Radko Gudas certainly has "sharp elbows." He was given 5 and a game for this hit to Antoine Roussel, who remarkably emerged (eventually) unscathed as he helped the Dallas Stars defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2:

Maybe now that he’s starting to establish more of a reputation against players not on the Red Wings, the officials will keep a closer eye on this guy. Head shots are not cool, no matter who you’re playing against.

Gudas is a reckless and dirty player who leads with his elbows high and his shoulders out. It doesn’t matter which team he plays against—evidence continues to mount suggesting that Gudas knows exactly what he’s doing, and that he’s doing what he’s doing very intentionally.

I don’t think he’s going anywhere trade-wise, but I’m not sure I’d want him on my team. He appears to be one of those “sharp-elbowed” players whose lack of respect for his opponents will probably continue to suffer concussions as Gudas racks up fines, suspensions and a body count while oblivious of the fact that the way he plays is dangerous.

As for what Yzerman may “owe” the Wings, the player the Lightning drafted with the pick they got for Quincey, Russian goalie Andrei Vasilevski (or Vasilevsky, depending on how you spell it) is slowly establishing himself as one of the KHL’s best goalies and a highly probable “goalie of the future” for Tampa Bay.

Only head contact was with Gudas back - no elbow? - he went for the puck and retrieved it, didn’t target the player at all??
