While the puck comes off the graphite stick much quicker, manufacturers still haven't worked out a major defect that often sees the shafts shatter with the slightest impact. Saku Koivu of Finland was the latest victim yesterday and it turned out to be one of the major reasons why he came home with a silver medal and not a gold from Turin.
