Glendale Wants Another Extension

from Mike Sunnucks of the Phoenix Business Journal,
The city is asking for an extension of one month.
The NHL extension Glendale is considering today could be a move to give prospective Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison more time to close his purchase of the team. Jamison has been trying to secure investors and the money necessary to buy the team from the NHL and keep it in the Phoenix market.
This move could be a precursor to the NHL running the team one more season while a sale is being finalized.
There are indications that even if Jamison’s bid falters or remains in limbo that the NHL could operate the Coyotes next season in Glendale. The NHL season starts in October and it’s likely too late for the team to be relocated to a new market.
The city has allocated $17 million in its next budget for arena operations.
There are reports stating the extension is a go, so maybe this is just the ‘rubber-stamping’ of it. I am more interested in the “NHL running the team” for another year comment.

It should be painfully clear to the board of governors and the league that no one with any money or sense wants to own a hockey team in the desert. Move it or blow it up in a blaze of glory.

I grew up in Phoenix and have given them every benefit of the doubt I could think of. But one can only ignore the obvious for so long. It’s not gonna happen in AZ. Especially in Glendale. Bite the bullet already and give a more receptive market a chance.

I don’t think Jamison is buying and saving this team. And I think the NHL now knows that, if they didn’t already.

And Doan’s agent just got a bulge in his pants thinking about how much more he can get from some hapless team if this whole will-they-stay-will-they-go saga drags on for another month.
If Doan really wants to play for a winning team, he should come out on Monday and say, “Okay, that’s it. I loved playing for the Yotes, but it obvious Glendale isn’t a hockey city. So, that’s why I’ve decided to play for…”
And I don’t care who he chooses, just as long as this whole farce comes to an end.

...he should come out on Monday…
Or maybe Wednesday would be better since that’s tomorrow. ![]()

Back up that Brinks truck to a gas station, dump some fuel inside, then light it on fire.
This is beyond absurd at this point.
