Wayne Gretzky used to make $25,000 a month playing hockey for the Edmonton Oilers. Come next month, the contract he signed his name to could be worth as much as $25,000 (remaining figures U.S. unless noted). Gretzky's first contract with the Oilers -- the 10-year deal he signed on Jan. 26, 1979, his 18th birthday -- is up for bidding on Lelands.com, the New York-based sports auction service that handled the sale of the Mickey Mantle and Jackie Robinson collections.more The Gretzky contract can be viewed here.
