Kukla's Korner

Kukla's Korner Hockey

Generally, I dabble in speculation and not rumours…

...but I have a source that passed this on, and it seems logical enough that it’s worth reporting. So after mulling over becoming a rookie rumour monger, I’ve decided to share it.

Trust me, this won’t happen often.

A quick rundown:

This individual suggested that the Canadiens were interested in Nashville Predators’ prospect Gabriel Bourque. A former 5th round pick, and a member of the 2010 World Junior team that won silver, Bourque has only 20-odd points in 51 games this year in the AHL. The same individual noted that Andrei Kostitsyn was the player Nashville was interested in.

Shortly thereafter, it was widely reported that the Canadiens would be scouting the Predators this week, a contingent led by assistant general manager Larry Carriere. The Canadiens have no upcoming games against Nashville.

Now, this is just a rumour, and rumours do not mean impending trades, but the logic is somewhat there. Kostitsyn is underperforming in Montreal. The Predators have many gritty players that could appeal to Montreal in a swap. And Bourque could be an interesting reclamation project.

Take it for what it’s worth: a rumour. And a pretty boring one at that.

But everyone likes rumours this time of year, so I thought I’d show and tell.

Just think, you get this correct, you will be 1 for 1.  Then you should just retire.

Not a bad idea - It’d be the quickest retirement since Forsberg!

The FHF blog called the brothers, “Big Tits (Andrei) and Little Tits (Sergei).”  I rofl’d like a little girl.

Everyone is looking for gritty players this time of year and I don’t see why you are so set on the assisstant GM going to Nashville being such a big deal. The Canucks had scouts in Montreal early in the season, before the rash of injuries on Vancouver’s back end, and yet nothing happened. Myriad scouts from myriad teams are always at games trying to identify potential talent. With Nashville in the thick of things in the west right now, I really don’t see them giving up a promising d-man (as the always seem to have a plethora of), in return for a moody, sometimes scoring, winger.
