Game No Longer Stagnant

So fun was the game that Scotty Bowman, the winningest coach in the history of the NHL, may not have retired after the 2001-02 season if today's game existed then. "I like the game, the games are exciting," he said on Wednesday night after addressing about 400 amateur coaches who came to town for this week's USA Hockey national coaches symposium. "It's not a stagnant game anymore." Using forwards on defense will become commonplace, he figures. "Do you want a skillful guy who can make a pass on the stick or a big guy who can't make a pass," Bowman said. "Even a guy like (Carolina coach Peter) Laviolette tried it late in the game when his team was behind."
