from Lubbock Online,
At a news conference held Tuesday, the Lubbock Cotton Kings introduced former NHL star Craig Janney as their new coach.
The 39-year-old Janney, who was a playmaking NHL center for 12 seasons but has no prior coaching experience, is charged with turning around a team that has won only four of its last 16 games.
Janney, who never played a game at hockey’s minor-league level, said he’s been hired on an interim basis.
“I’m excited to get behind the bench and see if I can do it,” said Janney, a Connecticut native who had been living in Phoenix. “... I got this chance, and we’ll see how it goes.”
