Old School- Flyers Beat Red Army

The defending 1975 Stanley Cup Champion Philadelphia Flyers became the first team to defeat the Central Red Army hockey team on January 11, 1976. In honor of that tremendous victory, during the Flyers-Colorado Avalanche game on Saturday, January 14, the Flyers’ will reunite members of that remarkable team. “It was important that we upheld the prestige of hockey in North America,” said Joe Watson. “We wanted to prove that we were the best team in hockey. We played with a lot of emotion and it showed throughout the entire game. Our intensity never let up and we were very proud of our accomplishment.”more Want more about this game?...
