Florida Panthers Send Sean Bergenheim To The Minnesota Wild

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired forward Sean Bergenheim (BUHR-gehn-highm) and a 2016 seventh-round draft pick from the Florida Panthers in exchange for the Wild's 2016 third-round selection.
Bergenheim, 31 (2/8/84), has collected 18 points (8-10=18), 34 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-2 rating while averaging 14:09 in ice time in 39 games this season with the Panthers. The 6-foot, 193-pound native of Helsinki, Finland, has tallied 179 points (95-84=179) and 373 PIM in 489 career NHL games during nine seasons with the New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida. He has recorded 17 points (12-5=17) in 23 career NHL playoff matches.

He is a good player but not consistent. Upshall and Kopecký could be the next ones moved. Soon to be UFAs whose roster spots can easily be filled with better young talent from AHL.
