Wth az?

Anyone understand this? Bolland hasn’t come close to playing a full season since 2012,and never has been a 20 goal scorer. They wanted a versatile center? Seems like an expensive option.

Good for Florida to dump that salary.

You’re asking “WTH Arizona”?

I think the bigger question is “WTH Florida?”.  They just traded the guy everyone considered their top prospect for 2 draft picks, neither of which is a 1st.  I don’t get Florida, they make moves to try to in Now, and then they do something like this that seems to run counter to it.  You can’t call it a “future” move because they just traded their top prospect away to do it.

For Arizona though it’s not about Bolland—it’s about them getting Crouse.  They got a 1st rounder (11th overall) selection, and gave up only a 2nd and a 3rd to do it.  Taking Bolland off FLA’s hands was the real price Arizona pays to get him.

No really, WTH Florida?

Florida is clearing cap space (Bolland is terrible) for a trade.  They’re trying to make a run.

Except “they’re trying to make a run” makes no sense.  Make a run at who?  The UFA market is picked over, and the big trades seem to have come and gone.  And clearing space for space’s sake won’t help FLA make a Cup Run on its own.  FLA still needs talent if they want to be an actual contender, they’re not there yet

It’s a move you make in June, not in late August.  It’s weird and doesn’t make a lot of sense now.  Not when you just moved out your top prospect to do it.

That is a terribly steep price to pay to unload Bolland’s contract.

Unless there are behavioral issues with Crouse, this is going to nip the Panthers in the butt down the line as I believe Crouse is going to be a stud power-forward in this league for a long time.

The ‘Yotes are doing things right. Could be a serious contender in a year or two.

Gotta imagine that Florida is clearing space for a rental player, although they may just be paranoid about re-signing Huberdeau (and to a lesser extent Pysyk) with Ekblad’s contract extension kicking in next year (cap hit: $925k > $7.5M)

Panthers were not as sold on Crouse making the team any time soon and got something back for the salary dump. Did Wings get a couple picks back for the Datsyuk salary dump with the 1st rounder? Panthers are loaded with prospects and could afford to make the deal. The question really is what the heck was Tallon thinking when he signed Bolland?

Detroit received the 20th pick and 53rd pick in the 2016 draft, and forward Joe Vitale.

On the positive side Panthers didn’t have to take back and old concussed player.
