Kukla's Korner Hockey

Flip A Coin

from Kevin Allen of USA TODAY,
It's the 11th hour in terms of NHL teams' playoff preparation, and a handful of teams still don't know, or haven't announced, who will start in goal. The most interesting race is in Tampa Bay, where coach John Tortorella has said publicly that he thinks he will need both John Grahame and Sean Burke for the postseason, even though conventional coaching wisdom is to anoint one guy. "This is not an ideal situation," said former NHL goaltender Darren Pang, now a hockey analyst. "A seven-game series comes at you quickly and if you aren't sure going into it and everyone isn't on the same page, you can be out in four games before you can blink an eye."
