Fleischmann Should be Healthy - With the Avs or Elsewhere?

From the Denver Post‘s Adrian Dater:

It’s June 21, 10 days before the start of free agency, and the Avs and Fleischmann have yet to talk at all about a new contract. On July 1, Fleischmann can talk to any team, as an unrestricted free agent.

Fleischmann scored 21 points in 22 games with the Avs after coming over from Washington for Scott Hannnan, but then was sidelined for the rest of the season with pulmonary embolism (blood clots in his leg). Fleischmann has yet to be medically cleared by the Avalanche medical staff.

Question is – is that because the Avs have no interest in signing him, and hence no interest in examining him? The Avalanche has no comment on that issue. Fleischmann’s agent, Richard Evans, seemed to have no idea what the Avs’ intentions are regarding his client. Evans does not want to be quoted for the record on the status of things, which is an unfortunate side effect of the Avs’ extreme paranoia about people talking about anything contract-related.

“Pulmonary embolism (blood clots in his leg)”

That’s just not true. Please don’t write about something if you don’t understand it.

Please tell me you’ve posted just this on Mr. Dater’s blog, as what was written here was a quote of just that?

Who said any of “you” were wrong?

I didn’t write the line in question. That’s it.

Hell, I didn’t write anything original here at all.

“From the Denver Post’s Adrian Dater”...

Yipes, Paul. I don’t know how you do it if people try and pin the words of others on you like this with any kind of frequency!!!

I think HTO’s comment might have been directed at callmedrw, not you. He’s the one who said you were wrong – although really it was Dater’s assertion that Fleischmann’s pulmonary embolism was “blood clots in his leg” while it’s really was clots in the lungs.

As for Fleischmann, Andy Strickland reported in March that the “...good news for Fleischmann is that he recently saw a specialist in Washington D.C. who told the soon to be 27 year old he is not a[t] risk to continue playing NHL hockey next season. ... He is expected to make a full recovery just as Jed Ortmeyer did who now plays in the Minnesota organization.”

This off-season seems to be a “touchy” one for KK bloggers (see Malik’s blog for his reaction to some nonsense that was directed his way). I hope we all can relax a bit after the first week of July.
