Flames Trade Brendan Morrison To Chicago

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today the acquisition of defenseman Brian Connelly from the Chicago Blackhawks organization in exchange for Brendan Morrison.

“As we projected our line-up going forward we felt it was going to be difficult for us to find a spot for Brendan or get him significant ice-time,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “Given his pending UFA status and the fact that we were not going to re-sign him, we felt it important to try to move him for another asset. In Brian Connelly we obtain a 25 year old highly skilled AHL All-Star defenseman who is still a legitimate prospect. We are excited to have Brian in the organization.”

I can’t find a video of it, but when Morrison blew his ACL last year, Sharp gave him the gears real bad, with an outright poisonous glee on his face.  Morrison gave him a look of shocked disapproval like you never see, shaking his head in amazement and disgust.  Sharp’s teammates looked absolutely embarrassed.
Anyone else remember this?
Actually, a very similar scene occurred when Leighton got chased in the final; he could not believe what he was hearing - I wish I knew what it was.
What a piece of shit you are Sharpy.
Anyway, here’s hoping this move screws up chemistry in the Khawks dressing room of children.

I thought the Flames were “going for it”?

Regardless of anything else, I guess it is still possible to steal an NHL player once in a while.

Thanks for playing so hard and well for us, Mo. You will be missed and we wish you the best of luck in Chicago. Just save the revenge goals for the Canucks, ok?

While I’m sad to see Mo go, Feaster is right to say that there isn’t much room for him. He’s really lost a step this year but hopefully Quenville finds a place to utilize him.

Hadn’t even thought of that.  It was rumored Gillis refused to budge on a 2-way minimum deal; Cowtown gave him 750k.  He said it was pretty weird putting on the flaming C.  Anyway, he thought he was a lock for a cup-bound team and was super pissed about it.  Point being, he’s definitely good for some timely revenge goals - next tilt being Tuesday.  I kind of think Vigneault just didn’t want him.  He looked pretty shitty in exhibition but I can’t help but wonder if he knows how to play in Boston.

In a related story, Brendan Morrison was still in the NHL.  Who knew?

I see your ? and raise you a ??.

My best guess is you don’t get the Boston comment - when you lose you wonder what might have been.  Perhaps had they kept him he could have played in the Gardens without having a meltdown like most of the team did.
