Flames Hit The Road Needing Wins

from Steve MacFarlane of the Calgary Sun,

Dropping even two of their three games on this road trip could potentially put the final nail in their coffin, especially if those losses came against the Avalanche and the Stars — two teams they are still currently in realistic pursuit of in the Western Conference standings.

They’re starts have been brutal recently and their urgency doesn’t seem to exist at the moment.

Needing to go at least 6-3 (or some similar combination in the event of single-point losses) to earn the 93 points it might take to make the playoffs, the Flames can’t afford to get to a point where they have to win out to have a hope of qualifying.

That makes this road trip as critical as any have been this season. That’s a lot of pressure.

I’d be amazed if 93 points is enough to make the playoffs in the west the way things have been going lately all the teams fighting for the last 3 spots have been winning it seems like.
