Fifteen months ago, Fischer was playing for the Detroit Red Wings when he collapsed on the bench after his heart suddenly stopped beating. Thanks to quick thinking medical personnel, and the use of a defibrillator, he survived.
Now he’s fighting to make defibrillators mandatory in all public places.
“I had no heart rate,” he recalls. “I had no rhythm. I had no blood going through my body.”
“I was out. I don’t remember anything at all.”
