Finally Something Positive

About 50 players in Whistler, B.C., listened to new NHLPA executive director Ted Saskin and representatives of a dissident group hash out the details of the final days of negotiations for the collective labour agreement, the departure of former NHLPA head Bob Goodenow and the subsequent hiring of Saskin. The small dissident group, which included veteran defenceman Chris Chelios and former NHLPA director of player relations Steve Larmer, has openly questioned the manner in which Goodenow left and Saskin was hired. But even outspoken Chelios was pleased with the answers in the information session. "I'm never satisfied," he said. "But this is positive. It's a step in the right direction. Only time will tell what's going to happen.
