Ever watch a Montreal Canadiens hockey game at the Bell Centre or on TV and wonder how much the advertising in and around the arena costs? You're right if you guessed big bucks, but you'll have to negotiate a deal with the team to know the cost. Because of confidentiality clauses in sponsorship contracts, the amount of money the privately owned Canadiens collect to sell their brand to corporate advertisers each season is a well-kept secret. But here's a figure that hints at the money involved: The entry level fee for an ad on the boards surrounding the ice surface is a minimum of $300,000 a year.more
