Ex-Ref Fraser Would Have Given A Major To Mike Green

My take on the play at the time it happened remains unchanged. Mike Green would receive a major and automatic game misconduct for cross-checking while Derek Dorsett a minor penalty for boarding. The teams would play 4 on 4 for two minutes at which point the NY Rangers would receive a 3 minute power-play for the balance of the major penalty to Green.

More from Fraser on this topic at TSN.

If you missed the incidents...

That was an awful play, the type that makes the casual fan who may have been watching believe “Slapshot” really does represent what hockey is all about.

lol. Kerry Fraser thinks he would have seen a guy get his stick on another guy’s face during a playoff game.

What about the slew foot?

That was a pretty horrible shift for Dorsett to go through.  He must have REALLY talked some serious trash about the Caps players’ mothers, and they weren’t about to have it on Mother’s Day!

Eh. 4 minute penalty is fine because of the automatic for blood. Otherwise, that’s just a 2.

Still not sure what Green’s doing, though (this is a common thing for me watching Green work in his own zone). He’s the guy who crushed Dorsett. What’s he have to be angry about here?

Ah. Dorsett kicked his skate. Makes more sense now.

He poked him in the booty-hole?  And liked it?  Just not there at that time?

They both should have been penalized (Dorrsett for the slewfoot) and Green should have received a double minor for the crosscheck to the face with blood. I watched this in real time and was baffled at the final call.

Dorsett failed @ slewfooting him & I am no fan of the Crapitals or Green, But that is why he reacted like he did. He knew what Dorsett was trying to do.

Typical CareBear Fraser don’t nail the 1st offender get the 2nd one

I wonder if dorsett tries another slew foot again?  Sometimes it takes actions like the one Green took to help police players.

Based on last week’s “ruling” by Fraser in which he showed that he doesn’t know what a kick is, he probably also doesn’t have any idea what a slew foot is

Thought the slew foot was rather obvious and should have been penalized as intent to injure. I would have been fine with them both getting 5 and a game each. But i have a hard time feeling sorry for dorsett because a slewfoot is like horse collar tackle. It can really injure someone. It was some dirty bullshit and i’m glad to see Green gave him some correction the league is unwilling to give.
