“I never got a phone call from the Winnipeg people when they apparently bought the team. None of us did. There are always three choices: ‘We want you; we don’t want you or we really don’t know at this point because we don’t have a general manager in place.’ At least then the communication is open and you’ve spoken to the (new owners) and that didn’t happen. It’s disappointing. I think with 40 years in the business you deserve a call from them to let you know where things stand and where they think they are headed.

“The fact that they dragged it out meant there were jobs that were going by the wayside while we were under the assumption that perhaps Winnipeg was interested in bringing our group along. It was a month or more just sitting by the phone waiting for things to happen while you are under obligation not to talk to other teams because of tampering charges….”

Craig Ramsay on the new ownership in Winnipeg.  More from Mike Brophy of Sportsnet.

These guys get giddy and forget their manners.  They did lousy things to a lot of people.  If the team stinks the novelty will wear off in a short time.  Ramsey was a good coach.  He didn’t have to be treated this way.  Dudley was a very good GM and was turning the team in the right direction.  But you know what they say ” to the victor belongs the spoils”

Is anybody really surprised that they were this classless about the Atlanta group they let go?  Way to go, True North.  If you represent Canada, then Canada must suck and be incredibly self-centered.

Early moves indicate that they may as well have Don Waddell calling all the shots in Winnipeg, they’ve been that bad.

The Jets are going to stink, and the novelty will indeed wear off quickly once fans realize this product is no better than the original Jets were.

Difference is, True North themselves, along with the majority of the Canadian media, have trumpeted this move as not just doing right by Winnipeg, but doing right by Canada, getting the seventh team, etc. etc., all the shit about how hockey belongs here not there…

Obviously they don’t represent all Canadians, I think Primis was using hyperbole to make a point.

Ramsay is obviously ignorant of the fact that the sale closed hours before the announcement. TNSE had been this close to buying the Coyotes last year too so they didn’t want to jump the gun nor did they want to make noise as that’s what the NHL proposed. They were really upset with the Brunt story already.

Seems like a classless move by the new ownership group. I was a bit surprised when they dumped Dudley but the fact that they didn’t communicate with the “former” staff and let them know they would no longer be employed is shocking. At this point I’m pulling for the Jets not to make the playoffs.

a) I’m not sure what any of that has to do with not communicating with the head coach (which was, indeed, a shitty way to conduct your business)
b) There’s no reason to insinuate that the actions of one company are in any way representative of a 30+ million people, but Primis is an *#$%@& who looks for any reason to shit on Canada and call all of Canada arrogant racists, so I guess this shouldn’t be any different.  He can take his zenophobic opinions and shove them up his ass.

Fairly classless by True North, but y’know phones work in both directions, Craig…

No I’m not.

Nathan has it 100% correct.  This return to Winnipeg has been made all about Canada, and about how great Canada is to have in and for hockey.

Then they go and turn around and are completely classless about the move.

Then again, with Garth as representation of the North, we already knew Canada was classless…

So all of this talk about how “hockey centric” Chipmunk and True North are, how wonderful to be surrounded by hockey people and fans who really care and understand the sport and you get this! No calls or communication and then Make Craig Ramsey sing for his dinner, by interviewing for the job he had and then boot his ass out the door, totally classless.

I think these comments are pretty whiney. True North had a million and one things to do from the time the purchase suddenly went through. I think these guys hve to appreciate the unusual circumstances. I’m surprised they would make statements like this because ultimately they just sound like whiners.

A million and one things to do and you can’t call the sitting coach and tell him to see what he can find for himself. Chipmunk hired his own coach from the Moose that isn’t a coincidence, nor do I doubt that it was his plan from the beginning. Ramsey is a good coach who deserves to be treated with respect not shit on because you are too busy.

Good to know that over 50% of players in the NHL are classless, including prominent members of the Red Wings like Darren Helm, Dan Cleary, and Brad Stuart.  It makes me wonder why someone would even watch a league containing people from a country that he has such utter disdain for.

Whether you like his point or not he isn’t trolling. If you have read the regular discussion on this site about some media and fan mentality in Canada you would know what he is talking about. His point in case you missed it is that when you get force fed Canadian superiority especially when it comes to team relocation you cannot miss the irony that this now results in a lack of class. Of course that is the mentality that many of us object to. Whether it is Don Cherry, Jim Balsillie, Sun media and others, Molson Brewery,  Vancouver Canuck fans or others you start to see a trend of arrogance, lack of class, a sense of entitlement and superiority. This doesn’t reflect on all Canadians or players, but it definitely is a trend among many Canadian hockey fans and media.
