“...Honestly, I’m shocked. I honestly didn’t think I would get more than, after everything else, all of the suspensions that have been handed out the last couple of years and this year, honestly, I didn’t think I was going to get a game. Then I thought, ok yes I am a repeat offender, they’ll probably give me a game because of it. I’m shocked that it was more than a game.”

-Daniel Briere discussing his three game suspension.  Anthony J. SanFilippo of the Delco Times posted the transcript of Briere speaking with the media, so read more.

Well, if he had faced off for a regular fight instead of being a punk and using his stick as a weapon he wouldn’t have to worry about it. Being a repeater and going after the head, he got off a little light. He deserves 5.

Wow. Did Briere bother to watch the footage before he made his comments?

seriously… hitting someone in the head with your stick on purpose is one of the more severe offenses in hockey. when you talk about other suspendable acts, most - like boarding or now the blind side head shots - they at least are generally attempts to make hockey plays gone wrong. that is, they usually are poor or questionable attempts at legal hockey plays. a cross check to the side of the head is just inexcusable. i agree, it should have been 5.
