Best thing about Ovechkin scoring: we’re talking about him again, for all the right reasons. Hockey needs that. It’s no secret, he’s fallen behind Pavel Datsyuk and Kovalchuk as even the best Russian player over the last couple of years.

He’s fallen behind Datsyuk, as if he once was ahead??

I like how all these writers were piling on Ovechkin, not giving him any slack for having to deal with the revolving door the Caps have had at coach during his career, and the difference in system that each coach had.

The team is finally catching onto what Oates is trying to teach, and not surprisingly, their best players are scoring again and they are becoming a more energetic and fun team to watch, like they were for that short spell under Boudreau.

Ovechkin is still on the younger side of his prime and is still is one of the most talented, natural goal scorers in the game. Barring injury, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be at the top of the goal scoring charts with Stamkos every year for the foreseeable future.
