Evening Line

If refusing to trade for Luongo was the last straw for Burke it suggests a 'win-now' mentality that almost never ends well for anyone.

I'm sure it signals something. The Leafs just fired their superstar president and general manager so suddenly it's like they opened a trap door on him. He's gone in mid-sentence.

The biggest shame is that he's not around to properly explain what happened.

No one else will.

Grange seems like just another vulture. I don’t agree with his characterization of Nonis as “wide-eyed” and “nervous”. Nonis has never been a colorful or magnetic media performer. He was being his normal self, and he is a reliable man for the actual job. There is a reason why Burke trusts Nonis so much. Nonis may not be the most exciting speaker around, but there are worse GMs in the league, and I expect Nonis to have learned from his time as Canucks GM.
