It is a fact that hockey fans from the beaches of Southern California to the frozen ponds of Thunder Bay are sick and tired of the NHL lockout. Fehr appreciates the fan sentiment to just make a deal, but he has no intention of yielding to it.
He breathes fire at the suggestion he is not acting in the best interests of hockey. His working life has been devoted to challenging owners who claim the best interests of a sport preclude players from negotiating with the team with which they want to play, for whatever salary that team might want to pay.
-Bill Shaikin of the LA Times on Donald Fehr. Read much more on Fehr and although mostly baseball related, it is a good picture of what Fehr represents.
