I thought Brooks had passed on??  It really seems like his comments come from some dark place maybe Damien Cox’s Deep Basement.

NYR have an expensive problem, Lundqvist expensive backup , 2 pretty good young goalies both don’t want to be a backup. Give them Jimmy and they will have a bunch of unhappy goalies. Only in NY

The fact the Rangers had a shot at the top pick is my issue. A team that finishes with the 18th best point total shouldn’t. Buttman changed the rules and now a franchise is set for years while one is set back a few years.

Entry drafts are supposed to not allow teams to acquire the best talent every year. It’s also supposed to avoid the bidding war for unrestricted free agents jr players that would be constantly won by the big market teams.

It’s the weighting that’s supposed to prevent tanking. Not encourage teams with the leagues best talent like Hart Trophy finalists to be in the running for yet more talent.

Don’t let this point be diminished by Buttman’s it’s not so bad spin.
