Evening Line- Geoff Molson On The NHL And The Olympics

“There are some owners that are strongly against it, there are other ones that are on the fence, and there’s some that think it would be OK if we did it.

“It hasn’t reached a boiling point where everyone has to raise their hand and vote on it. But like I’ve always said, I think it’s important to give a star player a chance to represent their country and it’s a proud moment for them and I support that.”

-Geoff Molson, owner of the Montreal Canadiens.  Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette has more.

pretty good leadership. of course, his fans will insist that players from that country attend. not even a question.

I wonder how many owners feel this way. I feel like Gary just saves the olympics as his biggest bargaining chip come CBA time. The players are very outspoken about their desires to go. Do the owners really care that much at this point or is this all leverage?
