Evander Kane Suspended Three Games

NEW YORK (Oct. 1, 2019) – San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane has been suspended for three games, without pay, for violating Rule 40.4 (Physical Abuse of Officials) during NHL Preseason Game No. 105 in Las Vegas on Sunday, Sept. 29, the National Hockey League announced today.

The incident occurred at 12:51 of the third period. Kane was assessed a game misconduct for abuse of officials.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Kane will forfeit $112,903.23. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

And how many games did that ref get suspended?

Wow it would be nice to see officials so motivated to jump in to protect a player
when some guy in a total mismatch is taking his twelfth
consecutive shot to the head and can’t defend himself.

This looks by body language and facial expression like the official made up
his mind he was going after Kane at that point whether it was necessary or not.
Maybe not to tackle him hard to the ice, but it was overzealous and there
was no urgent reason to do it.

I don’t want to see the door opened to players taking shots at officials.
But it wasn’t much from Kane given the tackle.
And it looks like the 3 games reflects that: no automatic ten games for abuse of official.

I can’t help liking Kane with San Jose for some reason.
But he’s got a target on his back now from officials and isn’t going to get the benefit of the doubt much.

I think the ref caught a piece of Kanes stick chop and was tee’d off.
