EA’s New NHL 07 Control Scheme & Gameplay Video

Hi KK readers, I’m Matt and I will be keeping you up to date on the latest of hockey gaming during the upcoming season. I have 20+ years of gaming experience and want to bring my expertise to you. This year’s hockey gaming lineup looks especially promising! Look for posts on a regular basis, a Kuklas Korner Xbox Live video game hockey league and be sure you check out the new Gaming Section of Kuklas Korner. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions or suggestions! IGN.com interviewed David Littman, former NHL Goalie and NHL 07 associate producer, mainly focusing on the innovative new control scheme. image
These controls are something that will change the way hockey games are played
We made it to give people the same skating and stick control that an NHL player has. Think of the left analog as your skates and the right as your hockey stick
If you have ever played hockey in real life, this is the closest thing to that experience without actually lacing up the skates.
Read the ign interview. Also, take a look at Video captured at a German Gameplay Convention. The interesting video shows the learning curve on the new controls as well as the real gameplay AI. If you listen carefully, you will hear an EA rep talking about the game. My one complaint is the gameplay speed; it's too fast for a sim-style game. Hopefully, there will be a way to customize the game speed like the 2k series has had for years. Click here to view the video
