Built largely on speed and skating ability, the Ducks hold an advantage over most opponents with the increased open space during four-on-four overtime. That edge swings the other direction in the shootout. Ducks shooters are a combined 10 for 40 over two seasons, while opponents are 16 for 39 against goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who has been in net for every Ducks shootout. "The shootout has been a thorn in my side for a long time," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said Monday. "I beat my head against the wall with it - I guarantee you - more times than you would like to think about." Is it time, then, to start forcing the issue in an effort to steer clear of shootouts?more
