Ducks Send Frederik Andersen To Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Peter Holland from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned goaltender Frederik Andersen and defenseman Sami Vatanen to Norfolk.

Andersen, 23 (10/2/89), appeared in seven contests with Anaheim, going 6-1-0 with a 1.66 goals-against average (GAA) and .952 save percentage (SV%). He won his first six games from Oct. 20-Nov. 10, marking the first time since December 1993 that a goaltender won his first six career contests (Toronto’s Damian Rhodes from Mar. 22, 1991-Dec. 2, 1993). At the time of his assignment, Andersen ranked fourth in the NHL in GAA and fifth in SV% (min. five appearances), while leading all rookies in most statistical categories. The 6-4, 230- pound netminder began the season with Norfolk, going 2-0-0 with a 0.96 GAA and .971 SV%, including a shutout on Oct. 11 vs. Binghamton. The Herning, Denmark native was recalled to Anaheim on Oct. 18.

Viktor Fasth returned from IR thus thus the reason why Andersen was sent down.

I know Fasth is coming back, but wow.

“Andersen, 23 (10/2/89), appeared in seven contests with Anaheim, going 6-1-0 with a 1.66 goals-against average (GAA) and .952 save percentage.”

Those numbers! They were really helping my fantasy team. Now I have to decide if I should drop him or waste a bench spot…
