Don’t Blame Leighton

from Sarah Baicker of CSN Philly,
Michael Leighton left the ice Wednesday night with tears in his eyes.
By now, the awkward ending to Game 6 has had a chance to settle in the minds of the Flyers and their fans alike. It will be remembered, likely, as one of the most abrupt endings to a Stanley Cup run in history, and perhaps one of the most anticlimactic, as well.
But it will weigh on the heart of no one more than the Flyers’ goalie.
It was a defensive breakdown in the Flyers’ own zone that led to Patrick Kane gaining control of the puck to Leighton’s right, at a seemingly benign angle. But the Blackhawks’ charismatic youngster found the back of the net on a shot that, to be frank, Leighton should have had little trouble containing.
